Rs10,000 for adulteration alert

FAISALABAD: The district government will shower cash on those providing information about the people involved in the adulteration of edibles.

This was decided at a meeting of the District Food Quality Control Board, presided over by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal, on Friday.

The board decided a Rs 10,000 reward would be given to the informer and his identity would be kept secret.

The DCO urged the people to provide information about the factories and traders adding illegal substances to food items. He said the district administration had started crackdown on those committing adulteration but the menace could be eradicated with the cooperation of patriotic citizens.

Up to teams of the health department are taking action against the mafia involved in adulteration.

He asked the health department officials to bind the owners of factories, restaurants, hotels, bakeries and other shopkeepers of consumable items to display telephone numbers 9201491-2 of the control room of the district administration on their premises for the facility of the consumers.
