LAHORE: The wife of a Punjab University faculty member arrested by the Counter Terrorism Department for his alleged links with banned outfits has approached the Lahore High Court for the recovery of her husband. Asma Ghalib, who filed a habeas corpus petition through lawyer Asad Manzoor Butt, secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), said the law-enforcement agency personnel picked her husband, Ghalib Ata, on Dec 7, 2015, from their Allama Iqbal Town house.
The petitioner said she came to know from media reports that her husband was arrested on charges of his alleged links with so-called Islamic State (IS) militant group and other banned outfits.
The petitioner said her husband had no association with any banned organisation. She said her husband had not been produced before any court of law despite a lapse of more than one month.
She asked the court to get her husband recovered and order his production before the court concerned if he was involved in any terrorist activities.
Mr Ghalib Ata was an assistant professor at the Institute of Administrative Sciences of the Punjab University.
