Cement factory compensates villagers

KOHAT: Of ficials of a local cement company on Monday gave compensation money to the elders of surrounding villagers on their complaints that the plant was spreading dust pollution.

In this regard a function was organised by the Sarhad Rural Support Programme.

An official of SRSP presented a cheque of Rs2.3 million for pavement of streets, construction of a link road and drains, to the elders of Razgir and Ghulam Banda areas.

The factory had earlier given a grant of Rs40 million to the SRSP for carrying out welf are works in the surrounding villages.

An official of the factory informed the elders that they had installed filter bags in the plant to contain the dust.

URS CONCLUDES: The three-day annual urs of Ghamkol Sharif, famously known as Zinda (living) Pir, culminated here which was participated by thousands disciples from across the country and abroad.

The people were served with lunger (food), and prayers were said for wellbeing of the country.

Kohat Deputy Commissioner Kahlid Ilyas was the chief guest at the concluding session.

Meanwhile, a statement issued on Monday said the DC along with other officials visited several areas of the city and directed municipal of ficer Mohammad Shoaib to open all choked drains and submit report within three days.

He also reviewed progress on development schemes and ordered their completion in the scheduled time. Correspondent
