RAHIM YAR KHAN: Despite being one of the most sensitive districts, RY Khan is without police head and headquarters superintendent of police.

The district has assumed special importance after recent killing of Malik Ishaq, the chief of banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi and his two sons, who resided here.

The post of district police officer (DPO) has been lying vacant for the last two months, while that of headquarters SP forone-and-a-half years.

In the absence of the two important officers, investigation SP Tariq Ilahi Mastoi is holding the charge of the two vacant posts.

The last DPO, Sohail Zafar Chattha, was transferred to Sheikhupura two months back and headquarters SP Tanveer Ahmed Tanio one-and-ahalf-years ago.

Filling of the two important slots has become all the more necessary because an operation against the criminals having links with different banned organisations is in progress in the district.
