ISLAMABAD, Sept 24: A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notices to the state in the post-arrest bail application of Kanwal, the wife of the gunman behind the August 15 Jinnah Avenue stand-off.
On September 5, the antiterrorism court had rejected the bail plea of the woman after the Islamabad police produced TV footages showing the gunman handing over arms to her.
On Tuesday when the bench, comprising Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, took up the woman`s appeal against the ATC decision, her counsel Kulsoom Khalig maintained that her client was neither in the prior knowledge of the stand-off nor involved in its planning.
Kanwal did not pick arms and the inclusion of terrorism charges against her is not relevant, said the counsel.
The bench after issuing notices to the respondents Islamabad police and the state adjourned the matter till September 30.
