ANP criticises govt for economic decline, record inflation

SWABI: Awami National Party provincial president Aimal Wali Khan on Tuesday criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government for its flawed policies and said there was no hope that the economic situation would improve in the near future.

He was addressing a public meeting here four days after prominent families of Saleem Khan area quit ANP and joined Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf at a public meeting addressed by KP chief minister, National Assembly speaker and defence minister.

In a countermove, the ANP leadership successfully pursued distinguished families of Ismalia area to quit PTI. They announced joining of ANP in the Tuesday`s public meeting.

On this occasion, Aimal Wali said that the economic decline and record inflation had exposed the government`s incompetency on all fronts.

He said that rising prices of essential commodities had made life miserable for the masses.

`The people are aware of the entire scenario and failure of the govern-ment,` he said and added that there was virtually no mechanism in place to control the commodity prices.

Aimal Wali claimed that the people no longer believed in promises being made by the government about providing relief to them.

`The ruling elites claim that the economic indicators are good, but ground realities are totally different,` he said.

The ANP leader said the government should step down and let the genuine leadership come forward to run the country`s affairs in a better way. He welcomed the new families into the party fold.

ANP district president Amanullah and Razaar tehsil president Mohammad Ishfaq also spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the traders here on Tuesday discussed the problems being faced by them at a meeting, which was presided over by Laig Khan. They demanded of the government to take steps for solution of their problems. Correspondent
