APROPOS Ashaar Rehman`s article `A new food guide to Lahore`, it is correct that unhygienic and substandard readymade food is spoiling the health of the masses.
This act of food adulteration by the business community working for their vested interests is highly regrettable and should be punishable according to law.
Unfortunately it seems that the authorities concerned in Sindh do not think this to be an important matter.
Not only the adulteration of food, but also the import of edible items from other countries needs the special attention of the government to check whether its ingredients are permissible under Islam and free from haraam items.
