LAHORE: A team of the Pakistan Railways Police has arrested a security guard accused of stealing more than Rs2.8 million from the office of a private company at Lahore Railway Station.
A railway police spokesman said on Wednesday that the general manager of the company, operating Shalamar Express under the public-private partnership policy of the government, had kept Rs2.84m cash in the locker before leaving the ofñce on the evening of Oct 19.
Security guard Barkat broke open the locks ofthe ofñce and the locker and took away all the cash. On the complaint of the company administration, Lahore Railway Station Police have registered a case againstthe guard.
Headed by SHO of Lahore Railway Police Pervaiz Akhtar, a team was constituted by DIG Shariq Jamal.
The team traced the guard with the help of his cellular phone, conducted raids in various cities and eventually arrestedhimat aRawalpindi area. Almost all the stolen cash was also recovered, said the spokesman.
