KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead by a citizen in the Nazimabad-2 area early on Sunday morning, according to police.

Area SHO Chaudhry Liaquat said that the complainant had called his friend from Metroville and the both were having a chat inside a car under the bridge when two gunmen on a motorcycle appeared there.

They snatched a mobile phone and other valuables from them at gunpoint.

When they were fleeing, the citizen took out his pistol and opened fire on them.

As a result, one suspect was injured while the other escaped. The wounded suspect was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Later on, the dead suspect was identified as Shahidullah, resident of Bajaur Mohallah in the old Sabzi Mandi area.

The officer said that the police were trying to ascertain his past criminal record. A 30-bore pistol was seized from his custody.

The police registered a case on a complaint of the citizen.
