LAHORE: A two-judge bench of Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Punjab prosecution department to submit without delay challan of eleven members of banned outfits before a special court established under Protection of Pakistan Act.
During hearing of bail petitions filed by the outfits` members, their counsel argued that Ghalib Market police arrested his clients without any evidence. He said the prosecution also failed to submit challan of the case before the trial court. Therefore, he said, the court should release the petitioners on bail.
A deputy prosecutor told the bench that the special court established under the Protection of Pakistan Act was yet to be functional that caused the delay in submission of the challan.
The bench headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim adjourned hearing of the petitions for two weeks and directed the prosecution to submit the challan before trial court without further delay.
