DALMIA Road is the main artery of Karachi that links its western part with its eastern part. The entire vicinity is now highly populated and includes areas like Gulistan-i-Johar and provides onwardsconnections to the airport.

The perennial traffic congestion on this road owing to ever creeping encroachment on the road is making life miserable for commuters.

The encroachers have now occupied the edge of the road, the entire right of way, the service corridor, green belt and footpaths, leaving no space for expansion, widening, overhead bridges, u-turns, bus stops, parking, road beautification, etc.

The addition of some military establishments on this road have also added to the chaos. They have erected pillboxes and set up barbed wire barricades.

In some places concrete barriers have been placed reducing the road`s width. An education institution has erected a high concrete boundary wall right on the road`s edge leaving no space for pedestrians.

The authorities should check this occupation of public land.
