CM reviews solar energy projects

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting here on Wednesday to review solar energy projects being set up in the province.
The chief minister said that speedy measures had been taken to resolve the energy crisis and special incentives were being offered to foreign investors for increasing investment in the energy sector in Punjab.
He said that important steps had been taken for eliminating loadshedding through planning of solar power stations.
He said that the solar power station set up in the desert of Cholistan was a big hope for a brighter future of the country.
Apart from traditional methods, he said the government was also striving for generation of electricity from alternative sources and energy projects were being executed without wasting any time.The chief minister said that agreements with China would be implemented speedily and transparently as such historic opportunities were rare and the whole government machinery would work with honesty, commitment and hard work.
He said the work would be carried out round-the-clock for the completion of power projects with the cooperation of China as electricity was of vital importance for industrial and agriculture sectors, strengthening of economy, creating job opportunities, increasing export and poverty alleviation.
Provincial Home Minister retired Col Shuja Khanzada, chief secretary, IGP, additional chief secretary energy, secretaries of home, energy and information departments, Punjab Power Development Company chairman and chief executive of Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park, Bahawalpur, were also present.
