Sepa imposes fines on four factories

KARACHI: The Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs1 million on four factories in Hyderabad for spreading pollution.

Pakistan Oil Mills Kotri Industrial Area and DS Motors Unique Motorcycles Hyderabad were fined Rs300,000 each while Meco Textile Mills Hyderabad and Zehra Textile Mills Nooriabad were fined Rs200,000 each.

Sepa also directed 10 other factories and hospitals to submit their environmental management plan within a month.

The agency had already imposed fines of Rs8.5 million on 27 factories in Karachi for polluting the environment and had sealed two restaurants in Bahadurabad, Karachi.
