Country can`t afford parallel judicial system: JI chief
Dawn Report2016-12-31
LA HORE: The military courts were established for a limited period and the country cannot afford a parallel judicial system for an indefinite period, says Jamaat-i-Islami emir Sirajul Haq.
Addressing a press conference at Mansoora here on Friday, Senator Haq said that if military courts were a panacea for all ills, the civil courts must be closed down.
He said the nation had high hopes from the new chief justice for deciding cases without any pressure. Though the nation had high hopes from the outgoing chief justice as well, the learned judge had announced much earlier that the Panama Leaks case would be decided by his successor.
He noted that some government circles had also criticized the plea bargain but the rulers were not ready to take any step in this direction.
The JI, he said, would hold a grand rally in Karachi on Jan 1 against the bloodshed in Halab.
KASUR: JI leader Liaquat Baloch said his party was in touch with other opposition parties to play its true role of opposition.
He was talking to the media in connection with the `Corruption Free Pakistan Movement` in Kasur on Friday.
