FAISALABAD: An assistant professor of the University of Agriculture, her husband and their relative have been booked on charges of killing a teenaged maid.

Civil Lines police registered the case late on Tuesday under sections 34 and 302 of the PPC on the complaint of the victim`s father Muzaffar All of Chak 424-GB, Tandlianwala.

Fifteen-year-old Najma was maid at the Lalazar Colony residence of Dr Masooma Cheema, an assistant professor at the varsity`s PBD department. She was found dead under mysterious circumstances.

The employers had claimed the girl committed suicide.

However, the girl`s father in the application submitted to the police alleged his daughter had conveyed them on Monday last that Dr Sajid, husband of Ms Cheema, had attempted to rape her. He said Najma wanted to leave the job and return home.

He said on Tuesday when they reached the house they found that Dr Sajid and his relative Musharraf had strangled Najma with a cable while Ms Cheema was holding the victim`s legs.

He alleged Dr Sajid killed Najma after failing to rape her.

A police officer said the victim`s autopsy report, to be issued after two to three days, would confirm the death cause.

He said till issuance of the report no action would be taken against the suspects.
