1,401 acres of irrigation department retrieved

BAHAWALNAGAR: In a joint operation against illegal occupants on Monday, the Chishtian Revenue Office and Bahawalnagar AntiCorruptionEstablishment (ACE) retrieved 1,401 acres of the irrigation department.

According to revenue officials, the land was occupied by a local MNA and some other people.

During the operation, Chishtian Assistant Commissioner Sarmad Hussain, Anti Corruption Circle Officer Abdul Qayyum, Revenue officers and a large contingent of police were present.

The Chishtian assistant commissioner said that 2,000 acres of land irrigation department was illegally occupied, out of which 1,401 acres had been retrieved and theoperation to retrieve the rest was ongoing. BAIL: The Lahore High Court, Bahawalpur bench, on Monday has confirmed the post-arrest bail of former Minchinabad assistant commissioner Mudassar Arif Khokhar in the Rs8 million graft case.

Khokhar was arrested on April 16 after his interim bail was rejected by the court and he was arrested and shifted to the Bahawalnagar district jail.

Earlier, Khokhar had on June 20 filed a bail application to Justice Shahbaz Rizvi. However, no decision was made on the application; instead he was ordered to appear before the court on July 1.

In the meanwhile, the bench dissolved and in the place of Justice Shahbaz Rizvi, Justice Anwarul Haq gave the decision in the Mudassar Arif bail plea.
