QUETTA: Many shops and other buildings were demolished in various areas of Quetta during an anti-encroachment action launched on Tuesday.

Teams comprising staff of the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation, police, Frontier Corps and local administration conducted raids in various areas and sealed 41 showrooms on Fatima Jinnah Road and in another area on the orders of the Balochistan High Court.

The court had taken notice of the automobile showrooms in Quetta whose owners were obstructing the traffic by parking their vehicles on the roads and footpaths.

The raiding teams demolished over a dozen shops and buildings illegally constructed on government land.

The administration also demolished nine shops built in the western bypass, Khezi and Jabal-1-Noor areas. Six buildings were demolished along the Airport Road and in adjoining areas by QMC and National Highway Authority staff.
