Punjab govt allowance

2017-02-04
THE Punjab government has granted a monthly utility allowance up to Rs7,000 to its employees working in Civil Secretariat, Lahore, wef February 2017.

It also enhanced special allowance from 20pc to 50pc admissible only to the employees of civil secretariat, Lahore.

This only mocks the rest of others working in the departments of the Punjab government who face the same financial bottlenecks and are as hard up as those working in the civil secretariat.

With such unwise decisions, the government has already caused damage to its reputation and credibility.

The service structure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is far better than that inPunjab. Employees in Punjab lead a life that looks like bonded slavery. They are overworked and low-paid with little benefits.

Such decisions pave the way to protests and strikes by employees for their rights.

The grant of these benefits to the chosen ones only would certainly cause unrest among the deprived employees.

In order to mitigate the sufferings of its employees, the Punjab government should extend the notified financial allowances to its employees working in other departments and offices across the province.
