Pervaiz claims credit

2016-03-06
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid senior leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has rejected Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif`s claim that the PML-N government had initiated (and completed) the land record computerisation project in Punjab.

`My government in 2006 had launched the land record computerisation project as part of his `First Time in Pakistan` people`s welfare projects.

Proper legislation for the purpose was done in the Punjab Assembly and it was practically launched in Rahim Yar Khan and Kasur and afterwards work on it had also started in Gujrat,` the former chief minister said in astatement here on Saturday.

Pervaiz Elahi said Shahbaz Sharifhadhalted this projectand his ministers should speak the truth.

He said funds were provided by PML-Q government for the project aimed at ending `patwari culture` and maintaining computerised record of properties. An agreement was signed with the World Bank under which it had approved assistance of Rs5 billion in March 2007, he added.

But when Shahbaz Sharif came to power, he shelved the project like many other public welfare initiatives undertaken by Q government, he added. Staff Reporter
