Laws to benefit Sindh

THERE are two bills which if passed will cost the Sindh government nothing and benefit the masses.

The first bill is about women’s rights.

The Sindh Assembly should amend the Family Courts Act 1964 and make it compulsory for nikah registrars to mention the dowry articles in the Nikahnama and this paper should also be signed by the bride and groom.

This amendment will not burden the exchequer and also considerably reduce family litigation.

The second suggestion is about the construction of roads, particularly streets.

Whenever a street is repaired or constructed, it causes almost all the houses in that street ‘sink’ from the street level and ultimately results in the choking of sewerage lines. A law should be passed that work on street repairs be at the same level.

The Sindh government should pass these laws.
