SANGHAR: A shutdown was observed on Tuesday in Tando Adam, where an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was shot dead a day earlier.
The deceased, Shahid Shaikh, was the former taluka nazim and zonal chief of the party in Tando Adam. Tension and fear gripped the town soon after his murder.
No markets, bazaars, business centres, commercial areas and shop opened on Tuesday morning while vehicular traffic on roads and intercity routes remained thin.
Meanwhile, Mr Shaikh was laid to rest in the Khalique Dino Shah graveyard.
Scores of people along with his family members, friends and party colleagues attended the funeral.
Groups of mourners gathered at Latif Chowk, M. A. Jinnah Road and Station Chowk and lit bonfire to register their protest over the murder.
