Organ donation to save many lives: Dr Adib

SUKKUR: Renowned urologist Dr Adib-ul-Hassan Rizvi has said he cannot refuse to address the problems of the needy because he himself was a needy man.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, he appreciated those people who always extended coopera-tion to the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) and made possible medical treatment of patients suffering from kidney diseases. He said that so far, nine centres of SIUT had been established where patients from different parts of the country came for treatment.

Dr Adeeb said facilities for patients were available in those centres which included annual cases of230,000 dialysis, 450 transplantations, 78,000 general operations and treatment of 6,000 people through laser therapy (lithotripsy), 4,500 CT Scans and 1000 MRIs.

He said that all medical tests, even treatment of cancer, which included facility of free-of-cost chemotherapy, were possible with the help of philanthropists.

He said that like in other parts ofthe world, number of deaths was increasing in Pakistan due to failure of kidneys and lever.

To save the lives of people, especially those of poor and deserving people, everybody was required to take united efforts and participate in this noble cause by giving donations to SIUT.
