JST protests `enforced disappearance` of activists

S U K K U R / H Y D E R ABAD: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Tehreek (JST) took out a rally in Jacobabad on Thursday in protest against a crackdown on party workers and their disappearance.

Starting from Shaheed Allah Bux Park, the rallypassed through different roads andreachedinfrontof the press club where participants staged a sit-in and raised slogans, blocking the DC office road for some time.

Addressing the protesters, JST leaders Baqa Muhammad Brohi, Azizullah Sindhi, Sajjad Sindhi, Chakar Sindhi and Bashir Soomro alleged that the youths ofSindh were being picked up or killed in violation of human rights.

They said this act of the personnel of the state`s agencies was highly condemnable and beyond acceptance.

They alleged that 14 workers had been picked from Karachi by the state agency personnel.

They threatened the au-thorities concerned with strong protests if the activists were not released immediately.

In Hyderabad, JST activists staged a protest demonstration outside the local press club on Thursday to condemn arrest of JST activists in Karachi.

IST leaders Abdul Fatah Channa, Mohammad BuxBrohi, Mukhtiar Ahmed and Nadeem Jatoi said JST workers had been picked up from different parts of Karachi and their whereabouts remained unknown so far. They raised slogans against the state`s law enforcement agencies.

They said the activists were peaceful and the law enforcing agencies had apprehended him withoutany reason.

They said that usually bodies of activists were thrown in different areas after subjecting them to torture during illegal detentions.

Warning that JST activist could not be intimidated, they urged rights bodies and civil society organisations to raise voice for the missing JST activists.
