LAHORE, Nov 13: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition of Daniyal Aziz, a former MNA from Sialkot, that challenged proceedings against him before an election tribunal on charges of being a dual national.
Mr Aziz submitted through his counsel that the tribunal had issued him notices on a petition filed by his rival Tariq Anees, which were not served on him.
He said he came to know about the proceedings through the media and appeared before the tribunal. The petitioner said he submitted his objections to the petition but the tribunal refused to hear them.
He prayed to the court to direct the tribunal to dismiss the plea against him for being frivolous and baseless. The court, however, turned down the request and dismissed the petition.
