PUBLIC transport is among the most serious problems besetting Karachi.
Buses are the main and cheapest means of transportin this city, but there aren`t enough of them to cater to citizens` needs.
During rush hour, commuters have no choice but to travel on the roof or hang onto the footboards. Most of the buses are in deplorable condition, adding to passengers` miseries. The students of Karachi University using point buses are even worse off. The buses servicing them are in a pathetic condition and recklessly drivenendangering students`lives.
The civic authorities and local government officials should increase the number of buses to ensure that safety standards are followed diligently.
