N the National Day of Portugal, I warmly congratulate the Portuguese people. Strong relationships between nations rest on mutual understanding and cooperation, which are shaped by history. Portugal’s profound historical impact is rooted in its seafaring prowess, reflected today by the global reach of the Portuguese language which is native to 250 million people and serves as the of ficial language of Brazil.
Portugal and Karachi are inextricably linked through the Goan community, with St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Karachi Goan Association building standing as enduring landmarks of the city since the 19th century. On this auspicious occasion, I pray for the success and prosperity of Pakistan and Portugal.
