16 held in row over court marriage

OKARA: The Gogera police arrested 16 men, eight each of the two families, involved in a row over a court marriage issue of a couple in village 26/GD on Friday.

Amir Iqbal and Shakila Bibihad contracted court marriage on May 29. The 21 members of the girPs family informed DPO Faisal Rana through an application submitted to his open court that they took an oath on the Holy Quran in a village mosqueto kill the couple.

The DPO referred the case to the Gogera SHO Mirza Alamgir who on Friday arrested Amir Iqbal, his father Amanat Ali, Mubarik Ali, Younas Ali, Omar Hayat, Zakir Hussain, Syed Ghulam Dastgir and Zafer Iqbal.

Similarly, the SHO also arrested eight men of Shakila Bibi`s family including, her father Ali Sher and seven others.

The Gogera police have registered a case against the arrested men under Section 107/151 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
