These were the feelings of the speakers at a condolence reference for Mirza organised by South Asian Free Media Association (Safma) on Monday.Safma president Imtiaz Alam said Mahmood Mirza was a straightforward person and wanted to spend most of his time for the cause of social change in society. Being a corporate tax lawyer, he said, Mirza had done a great research and wanted that everybody should give tax because the economy could not be run if all would not be bound to pay taxes.

Mr Alam said Mirza was also interested in constituting think-tanks and promoting knowledge economy. He was curious to know the ways to modernise a Muslim society. He also wrote different booklets on socialchange, taxation system and Sindh.

Columnist Munoo Bhai said Mirza had left cherishable memories and he had brought him (Bhai) closer to Islam.

Council of Pakistan Newspaper E ditors president Mujeebur Rehman Shami said Mirza was a thinker for thinkers and had entered politics by joining Nizam-i-Islam Party and later joined Tehreek-i-Istaglal. He said Mirza would cut off relations with those who reached power corridors and got involved in corruption.

Former chief economist Dr Pervez Tahir, Waqar Mustafa and Mirza`s son Hamid Mirza also spolce.
