KASUR: The building of a government school was damaged on Friday night due to lightning in Kotli Pathana village.

During a dust storm on Friday night, lightning struck the building of Government Elementary Girls School in Kotli Pathana village. As a result, some walls developed cracks and electricity circuits and fans were damaged.

Students and their parents demanded the education authorities repair the building to avert any untoward incident.

STRIKE: Doctors and paramedical staff of the Pattoki THQ Hospital on Saturday went on strike for hours over what they called misconduct of patients and their attendants. They demanded security and transfer of the medical superintendent (MS), and threatened to continue their strike if the demands were not met.

On Friday night, a patient and his attendants allegedly had arguments with the paramedical staff, used abusive language and threatened them with dire consequences.

On Saturday morning, when the doctors and paramedical staff complained to MS Dr Dildar Hussain, he allegedly did not take notice and tried to avoid the matter.

The annoyed staff went on strike, led by Dr Shahid Hafeez. About 30 doctors and paramedical staff gathered in the hospital compound, chanted slogans against the MS and refused to attend patients.

They said they felt insecure while working and demanded security. They also demanded Kasur Deputy Commissioner Ammara Khan and Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdul Majeed visit the hospital and listen to their demands.

On the assurance of the local administration that justice would be done, the staff resumed their duty after about three hours. Correspondent
