Rs73m for construction of special education centre

GUJRAT: A sum of Rs73.362 million will be spent on the construction of a special education centre along with five residential buildings for the staff and teachers in Sara-iAlamgir.

This was stated by Gujrat Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa while chairing a meeting to review the so far progress on the project.

He said the department concerned had already processed the tender from the provincial development budget for the double storey building of special education centre whereas the work order had been issued. The building ofspecial education centre will comprise two storeys while pre-tests have been completed for the construction and digging started.

He said the construction company had completed 1,600 feet wall and boring for half cusec tubewell had also been completed.

The project is likely to be completed within 12 months and Rs40m have initially been released by the provincial government. He said the staff from grade 1 to 11 would be given residences and teachers from grade 15 to 17 would be eligible for residence.

Mr Randhawa said the Punjab government had issued direction to provide services to the special students so that they could also become an active part of society.
