PFA seals soda, water plants

GUJRANWALA: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed a factories on Saturday for manufacturing fake soda water and bad quality bottled water in Nandipur.

The PFA team raided Zafar Soda Water and Saleem Soda Water Plant and found drums were not clean and no water filtration plant had been installed. The team also seized sweeteners and substandard colours there.

GANG: Baghbanpura police arrested five members of the Nabil gang on Saturday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nadeem Khokhar told Dawn they had arrested ringleader Nabil, of Chah Sarafan, and members ZulfiqarMughal, of Kangniwala, Afzal Mochi, of Sadiq Road, Faisal Masih, of Racecourse Road, and Imran, of Gala Kumaran. They were wanted to several police stations for street crimes and motorcycle snatching.

Police seized six motorcycles, five pistols, mobile phones, cash and cartridges from them.

Also, Mr Khokhar told his subordinates they would be deployed with census teams in 501 circles. Three quick response force teams were formed at each police station and also a motorcycle squad would perform special duty in each circle.

Also, each station house officer would lead a team of commandoswhile sub-divisional police officers would perform their duty in their assigned blocks.

SPs would supervise security issues in their divisions and would remain in touch with army personnel and census staff.

INTER EXAMS: The Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has posted roll number slips to regular candidates for intermediate annual examinations of 2017.

According to a press release, candidates from affiliated institutes and private candidates can download their slips from the board website.

Examinations will begin on May 6.
