THIS refers to your report `Imran admits forming offshore company to `evade British taxes`` (May 14). Please note there is a huge dif ference between tax `evasion` and `avoidance`.
The former is illegal whereas the latter is legal. The governments all over the world provide what are known as tax shelters which help people avoid taxes. What Imran Khan and many others who have setup offshore companies may have done is to legally avoid taxes.
The key issue here is to follow the money trail and determine if any laws have been broken.
I hope for the sake of fair reporting, and in the interest of avoiding unnecessary public confusion, you will explain this key difference to your readers.
