THERE is an apt saying `reading is to mind what exercise is to the body`. With rapid urbanisation and commercialisation the existing playgrounds are diminishing fast and being converted into big plazas. The only option left for the teenagers is to either play online games or watch movies at home.
Spending multiple hours on cellphone and the Internet hasits side effectsin both physical and mental terms. The only viable option is to establish sports complexes at district and tehsil levels. While big cities have such facilities, they require improvements.
Sports complexes usually have facilities for gymnasium, swimming, tennis, badminton, hockey, football and other indoor games.
However, in Mandi Bahauddin there are only two small grounds at district level, which are most of the time used for various events and celebrations. Punjab chief secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal also belongs to the said area. I urge him to establish a sports complex for the residents of Mandi Bahaudin.
