KARACHI: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, through his media adviser, sent a Rs1,000,000 cheque to the widow of popular TV artist Farid Khan here on Monday.

Expressing his deep grief on the demise of the performer who had brought laurels to the country, media adviser to the CM Imran Goraya said the Punjab government had always recognised the contribution of the artist community in the country.

Farid Khan was an outstanding artist who served the peoplethrough his unique style of satire and comedy, said Mr Goraya.

He said it was on special instructions of the chief minister that he came to Karachi to hand over the cheque to the widow of Farid Khan.

The financial assistance to the bereaved family was just a reflection of the schemes initiated by the Punjab government for the welfare of artists and their families.

Arham Khan, son of Farid Khan, and the widow thanked the Punjab government for the support.-APP
