LAHORE: Rangers (Punjab) killed an alleged smuggler, took his brother into custody and seized 47 bottles of Indian liquor following crossfire in Wagah sector.

The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Altaf, son of Faiz Muhammad of Baloki village, Pattoki, while his brother was identified as Muhammad Azam.

According to a press release on Friday, the suspects were attempting to smuggle liquor into Pakistan from India. Rangers personnel noticed the suspects movement along the border and challenged them but they dropped their luggage and started running towards India. Officials chased them and a crossfire started which left one of the suspects dead while the other surrendered to Rangers.—Staff Reporter
