Pepco team digs into Nandipur record

GUJRANWALA: An inquiry team of the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) visited the Nandipur power plant and recorded the statements of officials on Wednesday.

The team is headed by the Pepco managing director, while Wapda House Lahore chief engineer Sabir Husain and director inquiries Khizar Hayat are its members.

They also recorded the versions of Muhammad Asif, the chief executive who had been suspended from service the other day, chief security officer Rana Mehtab Alam, who is on bail, and security guards Bilquis and Salahuddin in the case of loss of furnace oil record.

The inquiry team collected the record of purchase of furnace oil from PSO in Farooqabad (Sheikhupura) and reviewed the damaged record. It will submit report to the federal government within next two days.

The federal government appointed Dr Niaz Memon chief executive of the Nandipur power plant and he took charge on Wednesday. Muhammad Asif was suspended from service and restrained from working on the recommendation of an inquiry team of the Muzaffargarh power station a few days ago.
