LONDON: [From the German frontier] All males in the Polish village of Kitow have been executed by Germans because the people of the village refused to be turned out of their homes, it is reported here today [Dec 31].
The Gestapo has issued orders for evacuation of the district. In all, 170 men were massacred. When the inhabitants showed signs of refusing to leave, the Gestapo threw a cordon round the village and took it by storm. All male inhabitants over 18 were separated from women and the Germans proceeded to execute them systematically on the spot. Women and children were taken away to concentration camps. Agency [Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Ahmedabad,] A bomb is reported to have exploded at Ha101 in Panch-Mahals district, according to a local paper which states that slight damage was done to the roof and wall of a building.
Within 15 minutes of the explosion of the bomb in the old commercial mill, another bomb exploded in the Maheshwari mill. Both the bombs exploded in the compounds of the two mills. No damage or injury was caused.
