Quaid-i-Azam library

2017-04-02
THE decision by the Quaid-i-Azam Library to bar students from carrying shoulder bags inside the library is old.

As the library is located in the Baagh-iJinnah, the students have to go through a security check. Authorities have already placed a metal detector at every gate of the park. A person has to show his CNIC to go inside the park.

Earlier students had to show their bags etc at the reception before entering and leaving the library for security purposes.

But now one has to carry his books and accessories in hands, leaving the empty bag outside the library.

Ironically, after passing through several security checks, why should not the students be allowed to take their bags inside the library? Besides, non-members are of ten not allowed to visit the library, whereas visitors (foreigners and those without membership), models, film producers and newly-wed couples are welcomed inside the library. The administration itself appears to entertain them.

Recently, there was a six-hour-long break because of commercial filming inside the library. The authorities concerned should make the situation for students a little easier.
