NH&MP rescues girl, nabs three captors

TOBA TEK SINGH: National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) claimed on Thursday to have recovered a girl from a car near Gojra and arrested her three alleged captors.

Police said three suspects Mujahid Ali, Muhammad Shahid and Ghulam Muhayyuddin allegedly kidnapped `S` of Kangniwala locality (Gujranwala). Near Painsra, an NH&MP patrol on suspicion stopped a car and recovered a girl who was unconscious. After regaining consciousness she told the police that the suspects had administered her some sedative injection and kidnapped her.

Police said the girl refuted the claim of one of the suspects that he had contracted marriage with her.

The Gujranwala Sabzi Mandi police confirmed to NH&MP that a kidnap case under section 496 A of PPC was registered on Wednesday.

Later, the girl, three suspects and the car were handed over to the respective police.

CONVICT ACQUITTED: The Lahore High Court on Thursday acquitted a death sentence convict.

Kamalia Saddar police told Dawn that in 2012 convict Muhammad Akram and his accomplice Mazhar had been arrested for allegedly killing their rival Hashim Hanjra at Chak 715 GB. A Kamalia additional district and sessions judge had handed down death sentence to Akram and acquitted Mazhar by giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Akram had filed an appeal against the AD&SJ order and Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi acquitted him on Thursday.
