500 teachers, DEOs to get awards for good performance

LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced rewarding 500 schoolteachers and district executive officers (DEOs) of the School Education Department for good performance in the annual exams of the boards of intermediate and secondary education (BISEs) during the academic year 2016-17.

The School Education Department and Chief Minister`s Roadmap Ranking had prepared a list of 500 teachers and 10 chief executive of ficers of district education authorides throughout the province over their performance in the exams.

The Chief Minister`s Roadmap Ranking had constituted a selection committee which compiled the list of teachers, principals and the CEOs.

The government has also issued a notification and sent it to all the districts.

The government has aplan to distribute the awards among the teachers and CEOs in a ceremony on the World Teachers` Day at Aiwan-iIqbal on Oct 5.

The star of ficers awards are based on the overall performance of the district and it will be given to the chief executive officer (CEO) of the district education authority. This award will be given to top 10 districts which performed extraordinary in academic year 2016-17.

According to the list, Okara district stood first, Jang second, Pakpattan third, Muzaffargarh fourth,Chiniotfifth,Kasur sixth, Vehari seventh, Hafizabad eighth, Chakwal ninth and Rajanpur got 10th position.

School Education Secretary Dr Allah Bakhsh told Dawn the reward included certificates and a cash prize of Rs10,000 to all the 500 teachers and some of the administrators. He said the cash reward would increase in the future.
