Energy dept vacancies displease PAC

LAHORE: The Public Accounts Committee of the Punjab Assembly has taken notice of positions lying vacant in energy department, which is af fecting its performance.

Chairing the PAC meeting on Monday, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed asked how could the energy department end the power crisis in the province, which could not overcome its own crisis.

Energy department secretary Asadur Rehman told the PAC that dozens of posts were lying vacant. The PAC chairman asked the department secretary to report on the filling of vacant posts in the next meeting.

RESOLUTION: Opposition Leader Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed on Monday submitted a resolution regarding increase in prices of petroleum products.

He stated that the government had f ailed to provide relief to masses and was continuously increasing prices of petroleum products, power, onion, tomatoes and other vegetables. He demanded that the government withdraw the increase in prices of POL products.
