Low-cost houses

2014-12-06
MOST large cities are facing affordable housing problems for people having low salaries. Most of the people`s salaries range from Rs10,000 to Rs15,000 a month. In this low salary earning they cannot buy houses or take on rent any flat.

This creates a lot of social problems like those youngsters who want to get married and settle in their life cannot do so.

People are living in crowded apartmentsdue to unaffordibility.

My suggestion that the provincial government should plan to build low-cost flats on government-owned land, flats of sizes of 450sqft/650sqft of one-bed and two-bed room flats and offer them at low rents ranging from Rs1,500 to Rs2,500 a month. These rates become affordable for low-income people.

The government can also take 10pc to 15pc as security of the cost of the flat.

Some plan has to be made to provide houses for this low-income group people.

This can only be done by building low-cost flats on government lands.
