Political slur campaign
2018-06-07
WE thought that political parties and other state institutions have matured, but after watching reports about Raham Khan`s scandalous book, it seems nobody in this country will ever learn any lesson.
Whether it be the PML-N`s notorious vilification campaign against Benazir Bhutto and Nusrat Bhutto of yesteryear, or the PTPs social media brigade which launches vicious attacks on anybody who dares to differ, the only thingthatis missing is civil behaviour and ethics.
People expected major issues that confront them to be the subject of political debates. The shape of economy, tax evasion, the impending water shortage crisis, massive corruption, the illegal grabbing of state and private land by land mafia, neglect of health, education and security of life and property of our citizens all that we hear is a slur campaign.
This book shows Raham Khan can go to any level, especially if she is perceived to be a gold digger. It can backfire on the PML-N if it is in any way behind it.
The PTI leader needs to learn somelessons that unlike common citizens his public life is subject to scrutiny and he does not have the luxury to act on impulses and get carried away.
Similarly, the social media of fensive launched against a gentleman bureaucrat with an impeccable record of financial integrity, Nasir Saeed Khosa, when his name was suggested by the PTI and then revoked by it, was in bad taste, especially the fake article supposedly written by the former chief secretary in which he belittles his family. I shudder when I realise how lowthey can stoop.
