LAHORE: The agriculture department has warned all seed companies and dealers to get themselves registered with the federal seed certification body to avoid action.

A spokesperson for the department said the sale of poor and unapproved types of seeds had become an offence since the Seed Amendment Act 2015.

All seed importers, dealers and companies must be registered with the Federal Seed Certification and Registration Department so that illegal business of unregistered, unapproved and poor quality seed could be checked, he said.

Those in the seed business were also asked to print all information about date of production and expiry, purity, lot number, testing date on the packaging with complete address of the company and distributor concerned,orfacelegalacdon, he added.
