Afkar-i-Taza conference from 13th

LAHORE: The Punjab Information and Culture Department, in collaboration with the Information Technology University and the Punjab Information Technology Board, will hold a two-day conference, titled Afkar-i-Taza, at the Alhamra Art Centre on Jan 13 and 14.
On the same dates, the departmentwillholdanother mega event, Pakistani Horti Expo 2018, in collaboration with the agriculture department, at the Expo Centre.
Saman Rai, the additional secretary Culture and executive director Punjab Council of Arts, said: `The first event which will be attended by foreign experts along with the people from the local academia while it will have an evening with legendary singer Ghulam Ali,` she said.
She said one of the objectives of conference was societal transformation through culture. She said aimed at bringing together the national horticulture community, the Horti Expo provide promotional opportunities to growers, processors and exporters to develop linkages and increase exports of their products.
Ms Rai said the event would highlight the traditional lifestyle, culture and values of the rural areas by establishing a small village at the Expo Centre. She said the rural culture had its own importance and it had a connection with agriculture and the new technologies were being introduced from the agriculture platform. SHOAIB AHMED
