AWP against approaching IMF

LAHORE:Notedlawyer Abid Hasan Minto says the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government`s decision of approaching the world money lenders for loans reflects that the party has no solid plan for restoring the economy.

Speaking at Awami Workers Party (AWP) federal committee here on Monday, he said the government was taking all the steps that could lead to inflation and was also enhancing unannounced powers of the bureaucracy.

He said taking recourse to the IMF showed that the ruling party did not have any alternative plan for restoring the economy. Hesaid that anti-masses steps of the Imran Khan-led government were making the party unpopular among the electorate as well as worsening the country`sisolationin the coming of nations.

AWP general secretary Akhtar Hussain criticised the parties demanding holding of polls under the supervision of the army and suggested that Election Commission of Pakistan members should not be taken only those who had served as higher courts judges.

The party demanded release of Baba Jan imprisoned in Gilgit-Baltistan and Mehr Abdul Sattar and other tenant leaders incarcerated in Okara jail and quashing of cases against them.
