THE government has decided to set up a campus of the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Gwadar to teach Chinese to the Baloch and Balochi to Chinese nationals.
Gwadar is an impoverished city of Balochistan. The city`s literacy rate is 26pc with just a single degree college, although the government has allocated 26pc of the provincial budget to education. In most cases, Baloch students are unable to qualify forthe reserved seats.
In such a dismal state of education, teaching Chinese to the people of Gwadar is of no use as the youth lack basic education.
The government needs to prioritise the basic education by rejuvenating the educational infrastructure.
