THE population of Pakistan prior to 2000 was much less but the country participated in the Olympic Games with large contingents of athletes and a small number of officials. In the process, we won a few medals too.
Now with a far bigger population, in the ongoing Rio Olympics we have sent only seven athletes while the number of officials is more than twice the number of athletes.
Why such a large number of officials? Are we lacking in sporting talent or is our planning not upto the mark? What are we doing as a nation and where are we headed? Nisar Sarwar Karachi
