Rs9m looted from Dubai-returned family`s house

MUZAFFARGARH: A group of more than 12 dacoits looted gold jewellery and cash worth Rs9 million from the house of a Dubaireturned man on Sunday nightinVesandy Wali,35km from the city.

Sources said dacoits entered the house of Ghulam Shabbir, who had returned from Dubai with his family last week, and at gunpoint looted cash and gold. They later went to his neighbour`s house and looted them too.

Shabbir said over a dozen dacoits entered his house late on Sunday, locked his family in a room at gunpoint and started looting. Theylater went to his neighbour`s house and looted them too.

District Police Officer Rai Zameerul Haq suspended Rohillanwali SHO Farooq Afaq and Khangarh SHO Mahmood Akbar over `negligence and poor performance`, as owner of a private academy had also been looted by the same group two weeks ago.

Talking to Dawn, the DPO said a case had been registered under Section 395. He said he had formed a special team that would probe the matter and CIA police under Inspector Rehan Rasool Afghan had started working to trace the suspects. He claimed the dacoits would be behind bars soon.
