Technician killed in `mysterious` blast

BAHAWALPUR: A young technician was killed in a `mysterious` explosion at a refrigerator repair shop in Fauji Basti near Kali Pulli here on Monday.
Reports said Ali Akbar, 25, was working at the shop of Furgan when he sustained serious injuries in an explosion.
The Rescue 1122 personnel rushed him to Bahawal Victoria Hospital where he died. Shop owner Furqan was said to be in Karachi these days.
Eyewitnesses said the explosion occurred in the shop, but they did not know its cause. Police and rescuers claimed it was a gas cylinder blast.
Police have started investigation.
REJECTED: Workers of the Bahawalpur Movement demanding a separate provincial status for Bahawalpur have rejected Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri`s charter of demands which has also proposed the creation of 23 provinces, including a Seraikiprovince, in the country.

According to police, `G`, a mother of four, had come to meet her parents where her brother strangled her to death and then surrendered himself to the police.
Anayati police sent the body to a hospital for an autopsy.
SUICIDE: A girl allegedly committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in her house in Basti Manzoorabad in Qaimpur town, some 70kms from here, on Monday.
Police said Sobia Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Husain, took the extreme step after quarrelling with her sister-in-law over some domestic issue.
